  2. Be aware and do not download any counterfeit app which could be attached with Phishing program / Trojan to steal your login information.
  3. Do not copy or install any app from uncertain sources on your mobile device.
  4. Please note that you should download the APK file from our Bank’s website only when you cannot access the Google Play.
  5. The aforesaid channel is the only authorized channels for downloading Citi Mobile® App APK. To protect your information, please do not download Citi Mobile® App via other unknown channels.

Is there a minimum balance I need to maintain in my International Personal Banking (IPB) account?
IPB Remote Account Opening allows customers that are based in China to open Citigold Step-Up Interest Account, Multi-Currency Account and Investment Accounts with minimum balance at HK$ $1,500,000 or more

Who is eligible to open an IPB account via online channel?
You can open a IPB RAO account via online channel if you:
  • Have a People's Republic of China Identity Card (PRC ID) and Exit & Entry Permit (EEP)
  • Country of Residence and legal address in China
  • Valid visiting reasons: study, work or migration
  • Age between 18 and 65 years
If you do not fulfil the above requirements for online and mobile app application, you can still make an online appointment. Please bring the required documents, and visit our designated branch to open an account.

Do I need to upload any document?
Yes, you need to upload address proof and signature specimen during the application process via Citi Mobile® App. If we need additional information or documentation from customer, we will contact you and complete the account opening process

Why do I need to upload my address proof?
Address proof is required to open an investment account. You will be asked to provide address proof during the application process so that the processing time when you decide to open an investment account at a later date will be shortened. To open an investment account, you in can simply go to the ‘Wealth’ tab Citi Mobile® App and follow the few steps afterwards

What do I have to be aware of when taking a photo of yourself for facial recognition?
When taking the photo, you need to:
  1. Look straight into the camera
  2. Remove all the accessories (e.g. hat, sunglasses, mask)
  3. Position your face within the circle
  4. Eyes must be at the same level as the camera
  5. Blink your eyes once to start the countdown
  6. Wait for the countdown, and blink again for the photo taking, and you are done, and
  7. Ensure adequate lighting with no shadows or glare, and
  8. Use a plain and clean background

How can I resume my application?
You will receive an email and SMS with your application ID, and you can simply follow the steps below to resume your application:
  1. Open Citi Mobile® App
  2. Click on 'Open a bank account’
  3. Enter your application ID which has been sent to your mobile number or email address

Does it mean that I have successfully opened an account after successfully submitted the application via online and mobile app?
No. Successful application does not mean that you have successfully opened an account. We reserve the right to review all submitted information and documents. You will be notified once our review process is complete and a final decision has been made regarding your account opening application. You must visit our designated branch to activate the account within 60 days.
