Citi can help you open a Savings / Checking Account before you arrive in Hong Kong and can also help to leverage your credit history in your home country to open a credit card in Hong Kong. We can also pre-arrange an appointment for you at a Branch in Hong Kong, upon your arrival, to discuss your banking and wealth management needs.

If you want to open a Savings / Checking Account in Hong Kong there are a number of criteria you will need to meet including that you must be over 18 years old and have a valid residential address. For full list of conditions, please

Yes, we can open your Savings / Checking Account in Hong Kong for you even before you leave your home country, which means one less thing for you to worry about. Fill out an application and provide all necessary documents and we will open your account while you are still at home. Your check books / ATM cards / PIN may be sent to your address in home country. From then on you will be able to fund your new account even before relocating to Hong Kong.

If opening your account pre-arrival, you will need to supply the following documents:
i) Completed account opening application form
ii) Identifcation document verified by home country branch officer
iii) Evidence of residential address in Hong Kong and evidence of permanent address (if it is different from the residential address)
iv) Copy of work visa/student visa

After you move to Hong Kong you can apply for a Savings / Checking Account by visiting one of our branches – find your most convenient location here.

As a global bank we believe that a Citi Client anywhere is a Citi Client everywhere. That is why if you have a Citigold status in your Home Country and maintain a required monthly balance you will be recognized as a Citigold customer all over the world. If you open Citigold account abroad, your account will be free of charge. Simply ask for your Citigold status to be transferred to Hong Kong when opening an account there.

With Citibank Global Transfers, you can transfer funds instantly, day or night, between your accounts in Hong Kong and your Home Country. The handling fee is waived for all clients. To make international banking for our global Clients even more convenient, we offer a special Global View of Accounts (GVA) service. GVA allows you to link your Citi accounts globally via online banking, so you can view your accounts in multiple countries from a single Citibank Online login. Yes, you can apply for a Credit Card in Hong Kong even before you leave your home country. Fill out an application and provide all the necessary documents and we will review your application when you are still at home, based on your home country credit history. Your card and PIN may be sent to your address in your home country.

At Citi we understand that when applying for a Credit Card after relocating to a new country you may need time to build a credit history. That is why we want to support you while relocating internationally with obtaining a credit card in Hong Kong. We can review your application based on your credit history from your home country. This service is currently available for Citigold Clients and limited to credit cards only.
