Summer Analyst

Citi’s Consumer Banking Summer Analyst program is a structured 10-week program designed to equip you with the foundational knowledge and give you the opportunity to apply your soft skills and technical skills in the banking world.

As a summer analyst, you can expect to participate in a cross-franchise induction in the market of your summer analyst program, where you will meet the whole class of summer analysts from all parts of the bank. At the summer induction, you will be introduced to senior bank leaders from various departments who will provide overviews of the different business lines at Citi. You can expect interactive workshops featuring soft skills training as well as team-building at our induction. You will also receive branch training to enhance your understanding of the Consumer Banking’s flow from the branch to the corporate level.

Every summer analyst will be assigned a buddy and a mentor throughout the 10 weeks to help you with support and training.

Upon completion of your first week of training, you will be given meaningful and tangible work that has a real impact on the business and enables progress.

Throughout the summer analyst program, there will be ample opportunities for you to gain senior exposure through the senior speaker series as well as various networking events.

At the end of the summer analyst program, we will extend full time analyst offers to every deserving summer analyst who has not only performed well, but has also demonstrated the potential to be a future leader in Consumer Banking.

Full Time Analyst

Citi’s Consumer Banking Full Time Analyst program is a two-year intensive course designed to give you well-rounded exposure in different areas that are key to Consumer Banking. Similar to the summer analyst program, your first week will include a local cross-franchise induction to further equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for an excellent start to your full-time career at Citibank. The program includes three rotations in key business lines, inclusive of a support function during your two years. At the end of the program, our aim is to equip you with the knowledge, experience, and network needed to be successful as a future Consumer Banking leader.

Additionally, you will receive hands-on training and exposure from various teams, including our Retail Banking branches as well as the CitiPhone helpdesk team to solidify your understanding of the Consumer Banking communication flows.

Credit Cards: Participate in the credit card launch lifecycle, and partner with the Digital team to support digitization initiatives. Be involved in key credit card projects, including launching programs to boost credit card sales, preparing marketing proposals and agency briefs, managing marketing budgets, and monitoring campaign performance.
Customer Segment: Support product cross-selling initiatives & execute acquisition strategies to drive customer growth.
Digital: Drive FinTech development and work with different tech partners. Launch mission-critical digital campaigns; develop media and business strategies on digital acquisition for different Consumer Banking products to achieve business goals.
Decision Management: Use machine-learning to develop models & frameworks to support Consumer Banking initiatives, such as using data analytics to target, price, and deliver Consumer Banking products.
Marketing: Create and leverage different digital and social media channels to promote key Consumer Banking business initiatives.
Operations: Develop a strong project management and process improvement mindset by managing a number of Consumer Banking Operations projects that could touch on trade surveillance reporting, call monitoring, and a number of controls assessments. Leverage technology to provide seamless client solutions.
Risk Management: Use data analytics to construct models and templates to streamline operation processes that help to facilitate risk assessments. Gain strong risk management and product knowledge.
Wealth Management: Participate in the end-to-end wealth management and/or investment product launch process by working closely with different internal teams, conducting competitive analysis and through creative thinking developing various product distribution strategies both online and offline. Develop product management knowledge.

Our summer analysts serve as a pipeline for the Consumer Banking Analyst Program, which means that summer analysts who perform well in the internship will be granted full time analyst offers upon completion of the summer analyst program.
We are open to all disciplines! Regardless of your choice of major/study, we value diversity in background, talent, skillset, and experience.
It would be beneficial to have business fluency in both English and at least one other Chinese language.
At a minimum, there will be at least two rounds of interviews, including a group assessment center and face to face interviews (can be in-person or over video conference) with Consumer Banking senior leaders. We encourage all interested applicants to check on the “Events” section of to register for more business-aligned events that can give students opportunities to learn more about the business lines at Citi Hong Kong.
Yes, regardless of where you are located, we want to attract and hire quality talent! Our assessment process will accommodate overseas candidates. Participating in the selection process remotely will not put you at a disadvantage compared to candidates who attend in person.
In Hong Kong, we typically only recruit for summer analysts between August – December for the following year’s summer intake. We do not take any off-cycle interns at this time.
Rotation scopes are carefully designed for junior talent to learn, grow, and contribute to key business objectives. Based on the needs of Consumer Banking at the time, rotation requests are drafted, submitted, and vetted by Key Consumer Banking leaders. Summer Analysts and Full Time Analysts are also given a chance to share their top rotation preferences before the rotation placements to ensure a good fit for both the business and the analysts.
Full Time Analysts can expect a comprehensive two-year learning journey based on the 3-E approach:
  • Experience (including structured rotations)
  • Exposure (including Mentoring, Buddy programs, Regional Speaker Series, Regional Community engagement)
  • Education (In-country orientation, Regional workshops, professional and leadership training, technical training).
