How to use the key features


Open the app and tap on “Enable Citi Mobile® Token”.

Read the details and select “Enable” to continue.

STEP 1

Sign on with your User ID and Password.

STEP 2

Enter the OTP SMS sent to your registered phone number for authentication or generate an OTP with your Security Device.

STEP 3

Create your unique 6-digit Citi Mobile® Token Passcode and select “Confirm”.

Activated!

You can now generate an OTP anytime with your Citi Mobile® App.

Tick the checkbox after reading and accepting the terms and conditions

Choose your payee type, input the required details, and tap “Next”.

Verify the details and tap “Confirm”.

Enter your Citi Mobile© Token Passcode. Your Transaction Authorization Code (TAC) will be automatically authenticated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Citi Mobile Token is a new feature within the Citi Mobile App to generate a unique, One-Time Password (OTP) in order to authenticate online and mobile transactions. It is an alternative to other authentication methods such as a physical Security Device, or OTP via SMS, yet is more secure, instant and convenient. The Citi Mobile Token can only be activated with the Citi Mobile App on ONE mobile device at a time which provides you with an additional level of security.

The benefits of the Citi Mobile Token are:
Secure - Protected by a 6-digit Passcode chosen by you, and restricted to one mobile device of your choice.
Instant - Direct generation of OTP, without the need to wait for an SMS anymore.
Convenient - Generate an OTP anytime without a physical security device or network connection.

For designated online/ mobile transactions which require additional authentication for a higher level of security, you can use the Citi Mobile Token to generate OTP/ Transaction Authorization Code (TAC) to perform the authentication. Examples of transactions requiring OTP: Payment & Transfers, Enroll/ View eStatement or eAdvice, Stock Trading, Email Address Update. Examples of transaction requiring TAC: Add a New Payee.

No, Citi Mobile Token is a feature within Citi Mobile App. Thus, you will not be able to use the Citi Mobile Token without the Citi Mobile App.

Yes, Citi Mobile Token does not require any internet connection to generate an OTP.

You can simply follow a few simple steps to activate Citi Mobile Token.

You can simply log in the Citi Mobile App and follow a few simple steps to authenticate transactions with the Citi Mobile Token.

The steps are similar to generating a TAC with the physical security device. You can simply log in the Citi Mobile App and follow a few simple steps to generate a TAC with the Citi Mobile Token.

Your unique 6-digit Citi Mobile Token Passcode ensures that only you have access to the Citi Mobile Token activated device and can generate an OTP and / or a TAC. For security reasons and to protect your interests, you should not share your Passcode with anyone. You can change your Passcode in the Settings of Citi Mobile App when necessary.

You can reset the Passcode by signing on the Citi Mobile App and entering an OTP SMS sent to your registered mobile phone number. Simply follow the “Forgot Passcode” on the Citi Mobile Token page to reset it.

Your OTP authentication may be unsuccessful because you have entered an incorrect Citi Mobile Token Passcode. Please try again with a correct Passcode. If you have entered an incorrect Passcode for more than a number of times in a row, you will no longer be able to log in to your Citibank Online and the Citi Mobile App for security reasons. Please call CitiPhone at (852) 2860 0333 to release your account.

For security reasons, your Citi Mobile Token can only be activated on ONE mobile device at a time. If you would like to change the mobile device which your Citi Mobile Token is activated, simply complete the activation process on the mobile device you would like to change to. Once the activation is completed, the Citi Mobile Token on the previous device will be automatically deactivated immediately.

For security reasons, your Citi Mobile Token can only be activated on ONE mobile device at a time. We strongly recommend you register the Citi Mobile Token on your personal device that you commonly use.

There are 3 ways to deactivate your Citi Mobile Token:

  • Log in to your Citibank Online and go to Services → My Profile → Deactivate Citi Mobile Token.
  • Enable the Citi Mobile Token on another mobile device. The Citi Mobile Token on the previous mobile device will automatically be deactivated instantly.
  • Call CitiPhone at (852) 2860 0333 to deactivate your Citi Mobile Token.

Simply activate the Citi Mobile Token on your new mobile device; the Citi Mobile Token will be automatically deactivated on the previous device.

You should deactivate the Citi Mobile Token immediately by the methods mentioned in “How do I deactivate the Citi Mobile Token?”.

For the time being, you can still use your physical Security Device or get an OTP via SMS. However, Citi Mobile Token offers you a more secure, instant and convenient way to authenticate online and mobile transactions. Generating an OTP with the physical Security Device will no longer be available after December 31, 2017.Meanwhile, if you would like to deactivate your physical security device, please logon to Citibank Online and select "My Profile" > "Security Device Deactivation".

Once you have activated the Citi Mobile Token, it becomes your primary mode of authentication for all transactions made through the Citi Mobile App. Simply input your 6-digit Citi Mobile Token Passcode and your transaction will be automatically authenticated.

Fingerprint Login is a feature that enables login authentication based on fingerprints stored on your Apple iPhone device or Android device. It is an alternative login mechanism to Citibank Online User ID and Password.

iPhone Touch ID Sensor is currently available on Apple iPhone Models 5s and newer models while Android™ Fingerprint Authentication is currently available on Android phones with Android OS version 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later versions AND compatible with Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).

Only fingerprints stored on your device can be used to access the app. Your fingerprints data will not be stored in the Citi Mobile App or kept anywhere within Citibank. You can enable or disable Touch ID/Fingerprint Authentication any time in the Settings menu.

When you enable fingerprint login, any fingerprint stored on your device can be used to log on to Citi Mobile app. For security reasons, we recommend that you do not register third party finger prints in your device. This is to protect not just your Citibank account but the rest of your personal details in your device.

If your mobile device is lost or stolen, please contact our CitiPhone Banking at (852) 2860 0333 to suspend your online / mobile banking service; and your mobile service provider to suspend your SIM card and request a new one with the original mobile number.
After you get a new SIM card, you can contact us again to re-enable the online / mobile banking service. We strongly recommend you to change your password in Citibank Online for security reasons.

Yes, you can disable the fingerprint login at any time. Go to "Settings" in Citi Mobile App, select "Manage Touch ID Sensor" or “Manage Fingerprint Authentication” for iPhone and Android devices respectively, and then tap "Disable".

No, the Touch ID Sensor will not work if you change your service provider in the overseas country.

Changing the mobile number will not disable the fingerprint login, as long as the service provider remains the same.

For security purposes, enrollment in the fingerprint login for the Citi Mobile App is valid for 90 days. If you have not logged into the Citi Mobile App by manually entering the password, the fingerprint login will be disabled for the Citi Mobile App.

Your fingerprint login may have been turned off for any one of the following reasons:

  • You have changed your service provider
  • You have recently changed you User ID or Password
  • You have not logged into your Citi Mobile App by entering your password manually for the past 90 days
  • You have changed your SIM card
  • Your online account is locked because you have exceeded the maximum number of password attempts
  • You have entered the wrong OTP 3 times when signing in
  • You have enabled the fingerprint login for your account on a different device
  • Your Citibank User ID is deleted from our system

The Citi Mobile Snapshot (The "Snapshot") is a new opt-in feature of the Citi Mobile app. Customers have to enable this feature with an Online Authentication Code. Every 15 days, the "Snapshot" feature will be disabled and customers have to re-enable it following the same required steps for safety purposes if they have not logged in the app for 15 days.

The "Snapshot" feature only enables you to view your checking, savings and credit card accounts balances and most recent five transactions of each account. The account numbers are masked to ensure privacy. To get more account details or to make a transaction, you are still required to input your user ID and password for login authorization.

For your personal data protection, we encourage you to set up a passcode for your mobile device and change the passcode on a regular basis. Please note you can disable this feature at any time in Settings of the app.

You can follow a few simple steps to reactivate the Snapshot functions.

Simply log on to your Citi Mobile App and go to "Settings" (located at the top of the navigation menu). Tap on "Manage Citi Mobile Snapshot" and just follow the disable steps required.

Within 15 days upon activating this feature, you can view your checking, savings and credit card accounts balances and the five most recent transactions of each account without entering your user ID and password every time.

To get more account details or to make a transaction, you will need to log in to the Citi Mobile App.
