Why e-Statement

The e-Statement service allows clients to manage statements in an electronic format through Citibank Online anytime, anywhere. e-Statement offers the same comprehensive information as paper statements.


Enrolling in the e-Statement service helps you to cut-down on paper usage. How to enroll

Enrollment is easy. Simply log on to Citibank Online to enroll in the e-Statement service!
Once you have successfully enrolled, you will receive an email confirmation and the e-Statement service will be effective immediately.

Log on to Citibank Online and go to the “Quick Tasks” menu on the right. Click “Enroll e-Statement/ e-Advice”
Log on

You will receive an Online Authorization Code (OAC) via SMS. Please enter the OAC and click “Continue”

Select the e-Statement types that you want. View and agree to the Terms and Conditions

Check the details and click “Confirm” to complete the enrollment. The service will be effective immediately

Paper Statement Fee

The Paper Statement Fee of HK$20 has come into effect and will be charged semi-annually. Simply enroll in our e-Statement service to save on the fee!

How and when will the fee be imposed?

From February 1, 2016, a Paper Statement Fee of HK$20 will be charged semi-annually. If clients receive any type of paper statements, a Paper Statement Fee will be applied which will be directly debited from the relevant accounts.

Who will be charged for receiving paper statements?

Clients who have the below accounts (excluding Diners Club cards and Company clients):
• Citigold Private Client
• Citigold
• Citi Priority
• Citibanking
• Credit Card

What types of clients will be exempted from the fee?

Exemptions will be applied to the following groups:
• Clients aged below 18 or 65 and above1

View e-Statement

When your e-Statement is ready, you will receive an email notification at your designated email address.
Simply log on to Citibank Online and follow the below steps to view your e-Statement:

Log on to Citibank Online and go to the “Quick Tasks” menu on the right. Click “Download recent statements”
Log on

You will receive an Online Authorization Code (OAC) via SMS. Please enter the OAC and click “Continue”

Basic

The Paper Statement Fee has come to effect from February 1, 2016. If clients receive Banking consolidated paper statements and/or Credit Card paper statements within a 6-month period (Jan to Jun / Jul to Dec every year), the paper statement fee will be applied for each type of paper statement.

Paper statement fee of HK$20 will be applied semi-annually for each type of paper statement. There are 2 types of statement, namely Banking consolidated statement and Credit Card statement.

No. Exemptions will be applied to clients who will be reaching 65 during the calendar year. Since you will be aged 65 in 2016, you will be exempted from the fee.

You can avoid the paper statement fee by simply enrolling in the e-Statement service. You will be able to view, download and print out past statements via Citibank Online at any time you need them.

Yes, it just takes a minute to create a User ID for your Online Banking. Please go to Citibank Homepage and click “First time User” to start the registration. Click here to view the Demo.

After you have created the User ID and password, you can log on and follow the steps to enroll in the e-Statement service.

You will receive a confirmation email once you have successfully enrolled in the e-Statement service, and the service will be effective immediately. Afterwards, you will receive an email notification (instead of postal delivery) when your statement is ready. You can then log on to Citibank Online to view or download your statement.


Charging Mechanics

Yes. The Paper Statement Fee is applied for each type of statement. It is treated as ONE type of statement (ie Banking consolidated statement) regardless of the number of single name or joint accounts you hold. Even if you receive 3 banking consolidated paper statements in Jun 2016, the Bank will treat them as one type of paper statement and you will only be subject to a Paper Statement Fee of HK$20.

Yes. The Paper Statement Fee is applied for each type of statement. It is treated as ONE type of statement (ie Credit Card statement) regardless of the number of credit cards you hold. Even if you receive 3 Credit Card paper statements in Jul 2016, the Bank will treat them as one type of paper statement and you will be subject to a Paper Statement Fee of HK$20.

Yes. The Paper Statement Fee will be applied for each type of statement – Banking consolidated statement and Credit Card statement. During Feb to Jun 2016, since you received credit card paper statements, you will still be subject to the HK$20 Paper Statement Fee for your credit card statement.

For joint account, the charge will be exempted only if the primary account holder is eligible for the exemptions. If your wife is the primary account holder of this joint account, the account will be exempted from the Paper Statement Fee.

Yes, you will be charged to the Paper Statement Fee, but not on a pro-rata basis. Since you have received paper statements during the period July to Dec 2016, the full Paper Statement fee of HK$20 will apply. You are recommended to enroll in the e-Statement service as soon as possible to enjoy the hassle-free benefits of managing e-Statements online for free.

Fees associated with Credit Card paper statements will be debited from the credit card account with which you last made a transaction.

Fees associated with Banking consolidated paper statements will be debited from the HKD Savings account as the first priority. If clients do not have a HKD Savings account or there are insufficient funds in the account, the Bank will debit the fee from the account according to the following sequence: (1) HKD Checking account, (2) USD Savings account, (3) Renminbi Statement Savings, (4) USD Checking account.

If clients hold more than one Citibank account, the bank will debit the fee from the accounts with the smallest account number.

From February to June 2016, if you receive paper statements, the fee will be directly debited from the relevant banking and/or credit card accounts in the during Aug to Oct, 2016.

Thereafter, if you receive paper statements within a 6-month period (Jul to Dec / Jan to Jun every year), the fee will be directly debited from the relevant banking and/or credit card accounts in the 1st quarter of the following year or the subsequent 3rd quarter.

First quarter refers to January to March; Third quarter refers to July to September.

Yes. The Paper Statement Fee will still be debited from your account. To avoid an account overdraft that incurs debit interest, we encourage you to switch to e-Statement to enjoy hassle-free management of your statements online.


Notification

No, the Paper Statement Fee will be directly debited from the relevant banking and/or credit card account. Such transactions will be reflected on the statement, and no separate notice will be sent.


Charging Scope

The Paper Statement Fee is applicable to Banking consolidated statements and Credit Card statements (excluding Diners Club Card).

As long as you have enrolled in the e-Statement service, for this special case, you can request a copy of a past statement for free. The re-generated copy will be mailed out within 3 business days. You do not need to pay the relevant fee for “Copies of Statement or Advice record” / “Statement Retrieval Fee”. Each client can request a maximum of 2 free paper statement copies in a full calendar year.
As you have already enrolled in the e-Statement service (which means that you have stopped receiving paper statements), you will not be subject a “Paper Statement Fee” for this re-generated copy of statement.

e-Statement is an electronic version of your paper statement. It offers the same comprehensive information as the paper statement. When a new e-Statement is ready, you will receive an email notification at your registered email address. You can view your statements by logging on to Citibank Online.

You can enroll in e-Statement service for the below accounts:

  • All banking accounts (Citigold Private Client, Citigold, Citi Prioriy, Citibanking)
  • All credit cards & ready credit accounts
  • All Diners Club cards accounts
  • All mortgage accounts

No, e-Statement is free of charge.

Your registration will be effective immediately. Thereafter, you will receive e-Statement reminder email when your new e-Statement is available.

You will receive a confirmation email at your registered email address upon successful enrollment in each of the services.

No. If you are currently enrolled in the e-Statement service for ALL your banking, credit card and Diners Club card accounts, the service will apply to all new accounts you open with us.

No. Once you enroll in e-Statement service for credit cards, this will apply to ALL the credit cards you hold.

Yes. You can enroll in e-Statement for different types of account. There are 4 types of account - “Banking accounts”, “Credit card and ready credit accounts”, “Diners Club accounts” and “Mortgage accounts”. If you only enroll in e-Statement service for “Banking accounts”, paper statements of all banking accounts will be suppressed. However, you can still receive paper statements for your credit card accounts.

Yes. Once the primary account holder of the joint account enrolled in e-Statement service for “ALL banking account”, paper statement of this joint account will be suppressed. Any of the account holders will no longer receive the paper statement of this account.


Notification

You will receive e-Statement reminder email within 2 business days after the statement generation date. Customers should contact us if there is any delay or problem with receiving the e-Statement reminder email.

Upon successful enrollment in e-Statement services, we will stop mailing paper statements to your registered address. You can log on to Citibank Online to print your past statements if necessary.

Note: Should we have amendments on the terms and conditions of our services and products, the related amendments will be sent to you through email accordingly.

Please ensure your registered email address has sufficient capacity at all times and add Citibank's email address (eStatementhk@citi.com) to your contact list to avoid potential spam filtering.


Others

Yes. Please log on to Citibank Online to change your designated email address whenever it is changed.

You can cancel the e-Statement service by logging on to Citibank Online. Please go to [My Profile], choose [E-Statement/E-Advice], and select [Enroll/Edit e-Statement/e-Advice].

Note: After e-Statement Service cancellation, your statements will be mailed to your registered correspondence address accordingly.

There are 2 types of statement – Banking consolidated statement and Credit card statement. If clients receive any paper statements within the stated period, a fee of HK$20 will be applied for each type of paper statement. Example: If clients, who hold both banking and credit card accounts, receive Banking consolidated paper statements and Credit card statements in every month of 2016, they will be subject to a Paper Statement Fee of HK$80 for 2016.
If clients hold more than 1 credit card and receive paper statement of each credit card account, they are only subject to the Paper Statement Fee of HK$20 for each stated period. If a client who holds a single name account and is also the primary account holder of the joint account, receives a paper statement of each account, he or she is only subject to the Paper Statement Fee of HK$20 for each stated period.

  • "Low income" is defined as a client with an individual monthly income below HK$7,900. If a client who is not working (for example a housewife), it is defined as a household monthly income below HK$11,500.
  • Eligible clients are required to inform the Bank proactively in order to apply for the exemptions via self-declaration or by providing supporting documents.

  • I may enroll for the service in which an electronic form of statement of accounts(s) and designated advice of account(s) will be made available by electronic means ("e-Statement Service" & “e-Advice Service” respectively), upon enrollment of which I will no longer receive my monthly Statements and designated advice in paper form (designated advice being the types of advice as listed on your website www.citibank.com.hk/e-advice from time to time). I may also enroll for the service in which you may send alerts via electronic means ("Citi Alerts Service"). I agree to abide by any and all laws, rules, regulations and official issuances applicable to the e-Statement Services, the e-Advice Service and/or the Citi Alerts Service (as the case may be), now existing or which may hereinafter be enacted, issued or enforced, as well as such other terms and conditions governing the use of other facilities, benefits or services you may from time to time make available to me in connection with e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service.   • I agree that you shall use reasonable effort to ensure that the e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service are secure and cannot be accessed by unauthorized third parties. However, I acknowledge that you do not warrant the security, secrecy or confidentiality of any information transmitted through any applicable internet service provider, network system or such other equivalent system in any jurisdiction via e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service. I confirm that I understand and accept all possible risks involved in using the e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service including, without limitation, e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service being accessed, intercepted, monitored, amended, tempered with or being sent or disclosed to other parties without my authorization.
  • I agree that you shall not be liable for any loss, damages or expenses that I shall incur, including without limitation, any loss or damage caused to my data, software, computer, telecommunications equipment or other equipment in connection with my use of e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service unless they are caused solely and directly by your negligence or willful default.
  • e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service use proprietary software of you, your affiliates and/or other software suppliers. I agree that you have granted to me a non-exclusive license to use this software in connection with the e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service that allows me to use such software only for its intended purposes. I agree that I shall not disassemble, decompile, copy, modify or reverse engineer any such software or allow anyone else to do so.
  • I agree that the successful delivery of emails (if applicable) in connection with the e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service by you to my designated email address shall be deemed to be delivery of monthly Statements/designated advice/alerts to me. You may, at your sole discretion, send any Statement/advice/alerts to my last registered mailing address should you fail to send emails in connection with the e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service at my registered email address or for any other reason.
  • I undertake to provide to you my updated and correct email address in order to use e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service / Citi Alerts Service.
  • Upon reasonable attempt, failing to send emails in connection with the e-Statement Service / e-Advice Service to me, your enrollment for e-Statement Service and e-Advice Service will be automatically cancelled and you will resume sending Statements and advices in paper form to me.
  • To cancel enrollment for e-Statement Service and e-Advice Service, I shall make such cancellation request through Citibank online banking or give prior notice at least 5 working days before the date of the next Statement/advice through 24-Hour CitiPhone Banking at (852) 2860 0333 or your branches. Upon cancellation of enrollment of e-Statement Service and e-Advice Service, you will resume sending Statements and advices in paper form to me.
  • I acknowledge that any information received by me via my telecommunications equipment pursuant to the Citi Alerts Services is for my (and not any other person's) reference only, and shall not be taken as conclusive evidence of the matters to which it relates.
  • Neither you nor any of the telecommunications companies designated by you for the purposes of providing Citi Alerts Service will assume any liability or responsibility for any failure or delay in transmitting information to me or for any error or inaccuracy in such information unless it results from any negligence or wilful default on the part of you or of such telecommunications company.
